| This is a rare superb charming 19th century American fine schoolgirl non-academy rural embroidery needlework sampler worked in a variety of stitches on a linen woven cloth base with cotton gold, yellow, green and brown threads, depicting a village scene of a small church or school, two and four story buildings, a house, or Adelias homestead, all with a delightful flag on a flagpole, a variety of trees and shrubs, etc.,signed at the bottom Adelia Sherman, Born April 8th, 1939, Age 11, Hun. Vermont. (Huntington, Chittenden County, Vermont) in its original grain painted reddish brown frame. In a superb state of original preservation without damage, repair, restoration, or alterations under original glass. A delightful Vermont folk art gem! Outstanding Condition. Height: 7 1/2" by Width: 9 1/8" Adelia A. Sherman, daughter of David R. and Susannah (Phillips) Sherman,was born in Huntington, Chittenden, Vermont on the above date.
