Rare Early 19th C American Folk Art Drawing Of "The Castleton Seminary" By A Student Of James Hope Who Was The Drawing Teacher At The School. This Student Assignment Was Executed On British Hallmark Sealed Paper Sent From England. We Know That It Was A Class Assignment Due To A Couple Of Others Done At The Same Time That Have Survived By Different Students Of James Hope. This Signed Work By Student Attended Castleton Seminary For Two Years (Circa: 1832-1834.) She Is Recorded In The Attendence Records At The College At That Time. The Work Is In Its Original Gold Leaf Shadow Box Frame Which Someone Covered Over Later With Black Paint. Surviving Under Its Original Glass It Is In A Superb State Of Preservation. Signed In The Center "Castleton Seminary" Followed By The Artist: Ms. Jane McCane At The Far Right Side. A Charming Perspective On Rural Vermont Country Life For A Young Lady Of Middle Class Being Able To Seek Higher Knowledge At A College Level During The Early 19th Century. Excellent Condition
