Rare Superb Early 19th C American Sea Captain Oil Portrait Painting Of Captain James Gilbert Of The Vessel "Jones" And/Or "Ezpelata" of Salem & Beverly, Massachusetts. The "Ezpelata" was a barque of 181 tons out of Salem, Mass. James Gilbert married on July 6th, 1826 to Sarah. It Is A Wonderful Early Portrait Of A Handsome Young Man In A Gold Waist Coat And Tall Stock And Cravat. Purchased In Completely Original Untouched Condition With Its Original Gilt Gesso Frame. Size 21" X 26" Original Surface Varnish, Minor Puncture Below Ear. Purchased At Auction From The Direct Descendants Of Captain James Gilbert. Found In South Berwich, Maine. Currently At Equinox Antiques & Fine Arts Professional Restoration Lab For Cleaning & Restoring Fine Oil Paintings. This Gem Is Going To Clean Up Currently Covered With Surface Dirt, Soot, & Grime. There Will Be A Future Photograph But Up On The Website Demonstrating The Fully Cleaned And Restored Work Of Art. We Actively Seeking Original Works Of Art In Untouched Condition.
