Provenance: Private Collection In France Through A London Art Dealer. Julien Dupre was one of the second generation of French Realist painters. His subjects were often humble -peasants tending farm animals and working in the fields. Dupre's paintings are somewhat influenced by Impressionism - in his loose brush work - however, they also possess the superb draughtsmanship and attention to detail. Julian Dupre exhibited successfully at the Paris Salon from 1876 until 1881 and was successful in his lifetime. His works are sought after and critically acclaimed by serious collectors and museums. Dupre was awarded several medals including the Legion d'honneuir in 1892. His works are owned privately world wide and are in several of the leading international museums. listed. Museums: 1.
