Superb Rare 18th C Chippendale American Massachusetts Dense Mahogany Reverse Serpentine Slant Front Claw & Ball Foot Double Shell Carved Desk. Attributed To Benjamin Frothingham Shop Tradition With A Well Developed & Balanced Stepped Interior & Double Shell Carving At The Interior And At The Base Attributed Master Craftsman: Benjamin Frothingham By Associated Origin, Construction, Regional Characteristics & Documented Examples In Private Collections & Museums. Charlestown Or Boston, Mass Circa: 1770-1785 Height: 45" Width: 42 1/4" Depth: 22" Writing Height: 32 1/2" Choice Mellow Nut Brown Patina. **This Superb Desk Is An Identical Mate To A Desk Sold By Mark Reinfurt - Equinox Antiques & Fine Art Some 20 Years Ago To The Permanent Collection Of The Memphis Brooks Fine Arts Museum In Memphis, Tennessee. It Is On Permanent Display Underneath A Major Oil Painting Of The Grand Canel In Venice By The Master 18th Century Artist - Cantaletto. Not Bad Company. The Museum Purchased The Desk From My Collection When I Was 27 Years Old Developing My Business. This Lovely Desk Which Was Previously Owned & Sold Then Recently Repurchased By Equinox Antiques & Fine Art Is Which Is Currently On My Website And Available For Purchase Is Shown By Appointment Only In My Castleton Residence.
