Superb 19th C. American Portrait Miniature on Ivory of a Gentleman

This is a very fine early 19th c. American portrait miniature on ivory of a handsome young New England gentleman facing right, in a black coat, white waistcoat, ruffled shirt and tied cravat, with short dark hair. The oval miniature is set in a three color gold gilded brass frame with cast acorn foliate border, aperture with original braided hair on the reverse. Dimensions: 2 11/16 height. Artist: currently unknown. Attributed to a new england artist. Circa 1820. Completely original and in superb condition.
